Pros and Cons of Self Dispatch
 

In the recent past i have noticed an increase in the number of flights that crew are self dispatching within my Airline, i would say about 90%, with the exception of ETOPS flights.

obviously we can all read the NOTAMS, the Weather folder and all documents pertaining to the dispatch of the flight, but it never used to be the case until a good number of the dispatchers were let go and at the same time an increase of flights hence a strain on the few dispatchers left and obviously it was also done as a cost cutting measure and apparently to improve on time performance.

What is your take on this guyz is it better to self dispatch, or have a dispatcher do it. Thanks for ya opinions
