MEL / CDL on Flt Release
What level of detail are you putting on your releases when it comes to MEL's?
I am limting it to performance related defects and any item that will have an operational impact, like an air-stairs u/s. Some of these pilots are coming back asking why such n' such is not on there. One recent one was window heat :ugh: I'm not going to put every little thing on a release, that is where the fleet status report / mx report comes in. Interested in opinions. |
One recent one was window heat Mutt |
Hi Mutt,
I can appreciate that but we're in the tropics, short sectors, not climbing through the icing layers, this time of year there aren't too many anyway, it was just plain pedantic. The window heat was just an example. There have been lots of others, coffee pot comes to mind. Some have a more practical approach to it, the fleet status report contains ALL defects/write up's on the aircraft, no need to go crudding up the release with every nut n' bolt. |
on my current and previous employers we list MEL items on the dispatch release, there is a field for it
|
In the UK we refer them to the tech log and give them a heads up if required. We in Ops are not as qualified as an Engineer.....................
Worked for me for 25 years. I can discuss the limits, not the defect. |

window heat inop, whether you are in the tropics or not, has an operational impact so should be listed, it will stipulate in the MEL with an (o) if it has, does it rain in the tropics!
