I would rather slid my wrists than work again for a company where an idiot named Pichler has any job in the management!!
This megalomanic c..t has brought Condor/ThomasCook Airlines as CEO close to bancruptcy with his useless and ruthless "visionary" approach to airline management!!!!:ugh:
He fired or shut up anybody who opposed his clueless actions and as a result an Airline with a 50 year tradition lost its reputation and hundreds of millions of Euros before finaly they fired him.
More than 100 Employees lost their jobs (also some Dispatchers were laid off) and last year Lufthansa sold most of their Condor shares to a retail company.
This is just a warning, but if you want to work there just go ahead, the world is full of stupid managers anyway.
I would visit you just to kick the !!!! out of that little austrian p..k
but its too much hassle with the long flight....
If someone has already clocked him :D, gimme a call I'll buy you a case of beer:ok:!!!!

Do they sponsor people for residency? I'd love to move down under!

Ustar 20th September 2007 15:21

Trying to find out further details and should have them within the next week or two. I will send you an email once I have the information.

Had a mate go through the selection process recently.

From memory;

Nav Service Officers (flight planning etc) start on $65k plus Super (9%) = $71k package. No increments past that, just CPI (around 3%) if you get it (not a certainty). 24/7 roster, planned as 4 days on 3 off 4 days on 4 off, though this "changes" througout the roster period as resources dictate.

Wouldn't think they would sponsor foreigners at this stage, there are always quite a few people who apply for this job locally.

I'll try and contact him and see if I can find out more:ok:

ops

My background is in IT ops - Do DJ etc ever hire non-airline ops people?

If so, if any one has any advice on what I can do to aid my chances would be appreciated - as well as if there are any courses that can be under taken.

thanks

silversaab 3rd July 2008 21:10

Do you mean you've worked in IT, supporting airline ops? What is it you want to get into? Out of IT and in to flight ops as a dispatcher etc, or working in IT, for an airline? Sorry, not quite with you...

ANstar 3rd July 2008 22:03

Sorry Silversaab...

I have been working in an IT operations role for 10 years and would love to move into airline operations (ie operations control or the like).

Obviously most airlines want airline experience, so I was really wanting to know if there were any courses or practical work experience I could do to help with my chances when I apply.

silversaab 3rd July 2008 22:24

Don't be sorry..nothing to apologise for! :)

Given I don't know your specific interest, or airline connections, I'd get yourself into an airline ops room (use mates, aquaintances etc or maybe cold call an ops dept) and see what they do and work out just what job you want to do, i.e. ops co-ordinator, flight planning, crewing etc.

Perhaps you might try for any job in an airline and try to transfer from within, although it would be a smarter move to get an IT job, preferably supporting ops, so that the move is more straightforward.

Are you looking specifically at Australia for jobs? Do you have the right to work here? Try here for starters. I know Qantas had a job for an IT person in Ops recently..

PM me if you want a bit more help, since this is an old Virgin thread

The world is your oyster :ok:
