Servisair Group question
 
Was in Berlin last week talking with one of the passenger service agents at SXF waiting for my Ryanair flight to EMA who told me that despite the fact Servisair was called Servisair/GlobeGround last year after Lufthansa sold 51% of the company to Penauille Polyservices and that the new Servisair logo looks remarkably like that of GlobeGround, that in Germany GlobeGround is still owned by Lufthansa and has nothing at all to do with Servisair.

What exactly is the set up?

It was sold and the new logos on the new pax steps at EMA say Penauille Servisair and retain the globe

Penauille Servisair is the new company name and has been since Jan of this year, however all uniforms still have the basics of globeground, i belive that this will slowly dissapear over time. Several upper managment has changed however this has not changed much else. :uhoh:

It's my understanding that it was GlobeGround outside of Germany that was sold to Penauille-Servisair, with Lufthansa keeping it in Germany. Sadly it's quite confusing as the logo and uniforms are almost identical. I too though have heard there might be some tweaking of it again over the winter.

Well lets hope that this tweeking does the company some good, cos alot of the staff do work hard, very hard and seem to get no or very little thanks or appreciation. :ugh: << thats wat a shift is like sometimes

I know everyone here at EMA were ecstatic when the new uniforms came in, because at they were an improvement over the old Servisair ones, indeed a nickname for our girls was the charming "slags in rags" though I've no idea where that came from. There has been bemusement as to why the new uniform is navy & yellow when the Penauille-Servisair colours are navy & that light blue. Rumours of an update have just been circulating, though I hold my breath. The problem with Servisair is the same as every handling agent, lots of promises to young-naive-straight-out-of-college students about the glamorous workings of the airport, but coupled with dire pay, conditions and management who seem to removed from what's really going on on the shop floor.

Lufthansa used to self handle at some stations (LHR etc). They then split the company up to retain profitablity and so Lufthansa Ground Services was born. In time this changed to GlobeGround.

Servisair was a separate entity which was well established in Manchester, Luton etc. They bought GlobeGround and hence it became Servisair GlobeGround. Now all Servisair people are supposed to be under one umbrella!

Simple?...hold on...Last year (or was it early this year) Penauille Polyservices who are non aviation related bought Servisair GlobeGround. Penauille are a French company specialising in waste management. They also own ICS the cleaning company used by some airlines.
So..now...we have Penauille Servisair and the GlobeGround part has been dropped.

Penauille Servisair now have their own dedicated cargo facility at Heathrow handling EK, SQ and UL cargo operations. A further twist....rumours have it that there is a new owner..some scrap metal company...:}
