Flight dispatch / OPS work in UK

Hi!

Why is it that when I find a job that I'd be interested to apply to (in the UK), the jobs are not avl to anyone outside the UK?

Wouldn't it be nice to have multilingual people working there?

Nothing against "the islanders". := I just feel that it's a bit unfair.

-Cheers-

Big Earn.
The UK have plenty of multi-lingual people available as it is probably the most Multi-cultural and tolerant society in the world.
I don't quite know how it works but plenty of people come from all over to work here and if you are an EU citizen there is nothing to stop you.

Job applications not avl for outside uk

The problem is that when you try to send an application, there's a statement that the job is available only for uk citizens. I know EU helps when working around Europe.

The reason they mention that is because of DFT's requirements for a 5-year background security check before you are issued with an airside pass. It's, however, a short cut taken by all the handling agents since they don't know how to ask for references in foreign countries (in some of these, employers would be reluctant to release such information anyway). My advice is to apply anyway since this requirement is illegal with respect to EU non-discrimination rules.

After all, most UK airlines have non-British pilots and Cabin Crew, and they have unescorted airside passes!

Cheers

I think a lot of airlines will look at your application if you are qualified.

We have just taken a Polish chap on who was by FAR the best candidate for our Ops Position, he could provide excellent references, full checkable reference history and we had no problem getting him an airside pass.

If you have the right qualifications and can provide 5yrs refs, I really cant see a problem
