Hi Guys and Girls

Wonder if you can help! Im currently a ops bod with about 5 years ops experience working my way up the ladder! Ive decided its time to hit the books to gain some qualifications but problem is what courses should I look at? Long term would be intrested in working in a management role maybe station manager, scheduling e.t.c but defenatly remaining in the industry!

What do you think would be a good thing to do?

I started the Glasgow course but had to stop due to the meterial being updated! No idea whats going to happen there!

Ive also thought about doing some kind of buisness studies course but again at which level? Ive looked at Open Uni level but looks like a lot of work and maybe bit over the top.

It would be good to get your opinions

:) OpsGuy As you have five years experience there's no ponit in doing the Aviation Studies City & Guilds course, as you will already know it all:oh: Although I do believe C&G do Airport Management type courses as do IATA (I believe :confused: ).....
I did a BEC General Certicate Business Studies & Management course, may be worth looking at, although it is probably called something else now since when I did that course they were still flying Boxcars :D

Is the Glasgow course you refer to the same as the FAA Flight Dispatchers course, that is what I am doing in MN, USA next Feb'

Thanks for the info! As for the Gla course its basically the UK equivilent to the FAA dispatch licence! Although It seems like early days and they keep updating the course!

Was in the same situ approx 5 years ago at a handling company. Took it on myself to complete an NVQ level 4 in Management studies at night school.

Did not know what to expect when I started, but really enjoyed the course and learnt alot. All to do with your work and development with no exams at the end. Loads of paperwork and writting, but worth while as got Ops Manager 3 months after starting and never looked back.

To be honest, I would keep away from specialised subjects as one day you may need general management qualifications and the aviation industry is not the most robust at this time.
