What Check-In System Does Southend Airport Use?
Quick question really...
Was curious as to which check-in system Southend Airport uses? I am assuming it is the CODECO system or something similar.... Can anyone spread some light on this, cheers! Alex |
Airports don't choose c-in systems, airlines do.
There are many out there, Altea, E-Res, Skyport, Damerel, BABS etc. Each airline will use whatever they prefer. Some handling agents also have links with certain systems (Servisai and CODECO were very hand in hand) so if a carrier didn't want to go the the expense of installing their own they would just use the generic one of the handler at a cost of course) |
Thank You
Thank you for your reply.
The reason I ask this question, is because I wish to improve my chances of becoming a PSA as I have no work experience in aviation. I feel that by learning a check-in system, it may get me a head start. If anyone has any suggestions, then that would be great. Thank you. Alex |
CODECO is getting phased out no?
|
With easyjet you most definitely will be using ERES
Aer Lingus will be Astral The only thing is when handling charters or ad hocs whichever stobart has paid for. Ink DCS, altea or even possibly the ancient codeco. As someone who joined an lgw handling agent with no previous airline experience, ERES is probably the easiest thing you will pick up. Good luck wishestofly. |
CODECO is going yes, it's very expensive and there are now much cheaper and better alternatives.
Not really sure how you would "learn" any systems without getting a job in the industry, you can't really access an airlines c-in sysstem from your PC and have a play :O |
Always amazes me how similar systems are, CODECO and Astral for example.
For Me, Codeco was always my favourite. First system I trained on. I now use Unysis and Wab2Go. But not for check in. |
I can do astral no problem- amazing the stuff you can find out on that system!
Pictures is very user friendly. Which airlines do you get to play with, kazzie? |
Who is the main (only?) handling agent at Southend?
Servisair are phasing out CODECO for Altea and L-DCS at my station. There are of course numerous other airline specific systems such as SHARES etc |
Stobart air
|
ERES - easyJet
ASTRAL- Aer Lingus Air DCS - Volotea/ Unexpected diverts/ Charters And yes it is all Stobart. Probably won't be hiring again till next summer though... Another you have to bear in mind is that at LSA you work as check in/ security agent and spend most of your time in the security search area. Nobody is hired as just a check in agent. |
