Routings

Can you route westerly from Europe to Joburg without HF or would you need to plan an easterly routing via Egypt etc. This came up in a conversation. Most men talk about women and football !

HF is not required for routing between Europe and Africa.

Just did that last week. We were pretty much routing down the East ( Europe through Egypt, Sudan, Uganda, Botswana etc). We were given HF frequencies for two centres. We were not out of VHF comms for long though.

In Africa at night I think it should be a requirement to have carrier pigeons on board.
