Load Controller-LMC's freight question

I was just wondering the other day about LMC freight/cargo. We often accepted LM pax but what would a LC do about a request to load LM freight or cargo and how much notice do you LCs need if that LMC is dangerous goods.

I assume only a recognised freight agent can deliver freight for transit and that they check that the freight is not on the DG list or precautions are taken. Would a LC accept the paperwork that comes from the agent or would, as I would think, the LC check the goods personally in a LMC case?

My understanding is the commander must have a written DG notice at anytime DGs are loaded.

From my knowledge and experience I have never been approached by an other cargo agent than the one assigned to the airline. All cargo has to pass the cargo handler for the airline.
Only if there's AOG cargo we are sometimes approached by a technical department, but that is a rare occurance.

Of course LMC cargo can happen. AOG, XPS, HUM, DIP, all those must go freight which sometimes was stuck in road delivery can be forwarded late to the plane, but always through the assigned cargo handler.

If there's dangerous goods in the late delivery, documentation has to be complete, no matter what.

Hope that helps,

Trabbi
