Servisair Dispatch Job Belfast

Hi!

I had my interview for Servisair yesterday for the role of a dispatch agent and really really want the job. i am in my final year of university and need the extra money over the summer but i am anxious about how the interview went.
They asked me about what my biggest achievement was so far and i said that it was getting into the Bar in London to train to be a barrister and that i have worked at Marks and Spencer for five years with various achievements there.
They then asked me about what i would do with an irate captain and i said due to the fact that i've worked in customer service a lot its important to listen and try not to become irate yourself and stay on a calm level.
However, they then said that there were only six positions for dispatch but nearly 20 for check in if i wasn't sucessful would i be interested in one of those? I was kind of hesitant as i really want the dispatch job.
I then asked about the oppurtunity of doing more than the 20 hour contracted hours over the summer and they seemed keen.
They then said we will let you know within a week to ten days if you're sucessful because the manager is away at the minute and she will "need to get her head around it all"? Do you think this was a polite way to say "you won't hear from us"?
After i had left the interview feeling kind of deflated they then rang me and asked about uniform sizes saying they had forgotten to ask me at the interview? This filled me with some hope because surely is they weren't considering me at all they wouldn't have done this?
Im going out of my head here because i absolutely hate the job im in at the minute and would love this new oppurtunity over the summer! Can anyone tell me if this is standard procedure for Servisair and whether i have a chance or not?

THANKS SO MUCH AS I KNOW THIS POST IS MASSSSIIIIVVEEELLLYY long!!

p.s. also they said in the advertisement that they would discuss pay at the interview but they didnt, and i didnt want to ask!:ugh:

Someone please help

Hello!

Being an ex Servisair Dispatcher, I can tell you the pay scale is not all that, You will be on the £6 per hour scale, if they are a nice station maybe a little more, but don't expect anything near £7ph.

I really can't tell if you got it or not.. I was recruited for check-in and then and went on internally for dispatch.. When I went back to them last year, the intake was a mix of experienced and non experienced staff.. So you might have a bit of luck! normally they want staff with past experience..

To be honest though, If they phoned back and asked for uniform sizes, That is a good sign, but don't count your chickens just yet..

20 Hours - If they handle Holiday charters at Belfast, then you will be able to secure yourself mountains of Overtime.. maybe see 40-50 hour weeks.

Best of Luck!

I had the same thing when I applied for Servisair dispatch. Throughout the interview they were pushing me towards checkin due to my lack of experience (I went into dispatch fresh from college with only a weekend job previously). I stuck to my guns and by the time I'd driven home I had a phonecall saying the job was mine and if I could start two days later :)

I started on the 20hr p/w contract but I was rostered to about 28hrs per week. Not sure what the traffic is like over in Belfast but where I work there was overtime going all day every day with the holiday charter delays etc.

As said previously, don't expect anymore than £7 an hour. On a temp contract you probably wont get shift pay, night pay etc etc so you'll be looking about £6.80 an hour

Good luck!

Thanks guys, all of your advice is great!i just really want the job and kind of thought that if i had got it they would have let me know by now but they said that the training won't start until the middle of May so perhaps they are just waiting around a bit!
The pay would be fine with me im on 6.40 an hour at the minute so that isn't a big issue! i just really hope that i get the job! a week to ten days seems a long time to wait lol!
Thanks so much for your replies!!

uh oh, just realised that the advert for the job i applied for said that you needed a clean driving licence but i put on the application form that i sent back to them that i have 3 points for speeding?
Do you think this will matter?

Thanks :)

kazzie 28th Mar 2011 20:56

Very much doubt it will matter... I have held an airside driving permit with 3 points before..

Bigbluebroxi 29th Mar 2011 18:16

Kazzie did you work for servisair at glasgow last summer?

KW?

kazzie 29th Mar 2011 18:46

Depends who's asking! :ok:

Belfastgirl 29th Mar 2011 20:11

The international! They've taken the advert off the job website so maybe they've made their decision :-/

Belfastgirl 1st Apr 2011 17:29

The days out and I didn't get any phonecall, doubtful that I've got the job :(

MrBrightside 3rd Apr 2011 10:49

I think the position is advertised until the 8th April. I would wait until after this date before counting yourself out of the running. Have you had any previous dispatch work?

Belfastgirl 3rd Apr 2011 11:29

No I've worked in retail for five years,so no experience that way :-/

Belfastgirl 4th Apr 2011 15:55

Ok i didnt get the dispatch job but i got something to do with passenger services!!that means check in right?!? :)

kazzie 4th Apr 2011 16:45

Check-In, Boarding, meeting arrivals! It's better to start at the PSA side of things to be honest.. There's nothing worse then a dispatcher fresh off the streets that doesn't understand the check-in side of things.. Sometimes, I can work sometimes it can be a disaster :bored:

You will see what I mean as time goes by, and go for dispatch next year!

Don't worry you still get to work with Aircraft

well done to you though! Welcome to the industry! :ok:

Belfastgirl 4th Apr 2011 17:04

Thanks so much, if the people im working with are half as friendly as the people seem to be on this forum im going to enjoy it there! :)

Belfastgirl 4th Apr 2011 17:16

kazzie, what was the pay roughly when u worked in passenger services? x
