B767 Weight and Balance

Anyone have any in-depth experience on the B767-300 W&B issues? In particular the CLIM? (Cargo Lateral Imbalance Moment). From what I have seen this can apply to passenger versions based on the ULD wts in the holds versus the actual Taxi weight of the aircraft, not neccesarily based on the Lateral Imbalance of the ULDs. Interesting on this type is that it only comes into play when you get very near to the MTOW. Does anyone have a chart/graph/cheat for manually checking the CLIM when needed?
Also, the BDSF conversion manual does not go into detail on Lateral Imbalance on the main deck and any restrictions that would apply to the airframe and this would seem to be a seperate issue to the CLIM. Can anyone shed any light on this subject please?

I'd be very interested to know more about this too. I used to do mass and balance for the 767-300 and always wondered what the section of the envelope on the loadsheet entitled CLIM check was all about. The pilots I asked didn't know either. We never got near it but at least now I know what it stands for!

Now that's interesting as although one manual discusses non standard ULD's loaded off-centre and a lateral imbalance effect in the lower holds, another Boeing manual only discusses CLIM in relation to the actual Taxi Weight of the aircraft in relation to the total weight of the lower holds and the restrictions in relation to the Take-off %MAC.
Confusing? Especially when you move on to cargo versions where the main deck cargo lateral imbalance is not even taken into account!

B767-300F Weight and Balance

Hi Chaps
Sorry to resurrect this one but had anybody got any charts which deals with this CLIM (Cargo Lateral Imbalance Moment) issue at all ? Thanks in advance

No charts as such but I do have a boeing W&B manual for the 767-200 and -300 which defines it. It took me a while to get my head round it and it was explained to me over 10 years ago! If I have remembered correctly, it is the lateral imbalance related to the pull of the engines.
