Swissport BHX

Forgive me if there is already a thread for swissport, but I can't seem to find it.

What is going on at BHX?

Just lost another contract to servisair in the way of PIA. All that is really left is BE,KM,CY and TK. Lets face it servisair haven't really provided a great service to their customers recently struggling to integrate the aviance operation.

New management soon to be in place so will they start taking so contracts back? or will these new managers only last 6 months before they get replaced?

Any thoughts?

PIA :- Swissport --> Servisair at BHX
Servisair --> Swissport at MAN

Seems rather odd. Are these contracts still bid and decided upon at a local level or are contracts now won or lost at a national level ??

99.9% of all rumors at airports turn out to be unfounded. Happens every year at every airport around the Summer/Winter timetable change. Believe it when you see it !!

I heard that ryanair are looking at swissport bhx aswell. I wonder what airlines swissport will take from Servisair. will it be the old aviance contracts esp after the new managers at swissport are ex aviance. Will it be the old aviance contracts plus monarch and ryanair to swissport. So servisair also looking for new ops manager I wonder who will take the job?.

Menzies and swissport have a joint venture in Spain.

This is true for most airlines in the present economic situation (Continental excepted at Bhx), and this will possibly be the clincher for changing handling agents.

I appreciate most airlines in the past evaluated and audited agents to check on their operational performance and training systems, however, nowadays the cheapest offer is often the deciding factor.

I can see T3,LH,AF,KLM,WW and SAS maybe going to Swissport, however, Monarch still have painful memories of Swissport.

All of the above is obviously dependant as to whether the ex Aviance management team can turn swissport around over the next few months, also the Servisair management team should utilise the winter period to address the problems they have encountered over the summer.

Perhaps a few contracts going to a rejuvinated swissport may be a good thing as competition can only improve handling at BHX, also Servisair have too large a bite of the apple to be able to cope and provide the kind of service that customers expect.

Good luck to all, however, Swissport personnel may suffer as the new management team may want to surround themselves with tried and tested people :uhoh:

Some major changes in personell at Swissport. Swissport exisitng ops manager has been demoted as he virtually ground the department into the ground and ended getting a final written warning due to a collective grievance buy the ops department. Hence he has been replaced by the servisair ops manager.

PAX services manager has been forced to resign due to off the field activiites and has been replaced by ex-aviance station manager.

Looking to replace 2 swissport duty managers with 2 servisair duty managers who are very friendly with the new airside operations manager who also used to work for aviance.

I think they will no wslowly filter out swissport staff and replace with ex-aviance staff. Watch this space..:ok:

on the upside thomas cook are very close to jumping to swissport closel followed by a few others.

"I appreciate most airlines in the past evaluated and audited agents to check on their operational performance and training systems, however, nowadays the cheapest offer is often the deciding factor."

Following the introduction of JAR-Ops 1 a VERY small minority of airlines ever actually committed to any real sub-contractor audit process; and those that did, rarely had auditors of any substance so their process was ineffective.

With all the chair swapping going on over the winter it will be interesting to see what the outcomes are over the summer.

Good luck to all in their new positions!

AVI-PORT

I think they will now slowly filter out swissport staff and replace with ex-aviance staff. Watch this space..
Will this be such a bad thing? the Ex AVI staff are all tried & tested and ran a tight ship with BHX being the only station in the AVI network who made serious money
