(TIAS) yesterday fatally ran over and crushed a China Airlines (CAL) ground crew member with an Aerial Power Supply Car when he backed it up in order to provide ground power supply to an airplane. According to the TIAS security, a Japan-bound plane was parked in the airport's Terminal 2 at 12:25 p.m. yesterday and was marked as requiring aircraft ground power service. A TIAS staff member surnamed Lee, 41, was tasked with supplying the aircraft with power. Lee was operating an Aerial Power Supply Car and put it in reverse without seeing the China Airlines ground crew behind him. The car hit the man and rolled over him, killing him instantly. The accident was reported to the Aviation Police Office, which is currently investigating the case, although the body of the ground crew member has already been sent to the Taoyuan district prosecutor's office to determine the exact cause of death.
