Morocco permit for flights to/from Canary Islands?

Hi there.

I'm trying to find out if it is required to request a Morocco overflight permit to operate to/from Canary Islands through Morocco FIR as a commercial but non-scheduled flight. Can't find any clear statement in the Jeppesen entry requirements section for Morocco.
Can anybody answer me that question?

Morocco

My understanding is that members of an ICAO State do not need overflight permits.
We are a non schedule Public Transport company and we never ask for permission for O/F. We have never been asked for a clearance number and never had any problems.

This is unlike Tunisia where it is clearly stated that ICAO members only need to file a flight plan but we are always asked for our O/F permit. That said getting an O/F permit is always very quick (30 mins)

What have others found?

Hi

For Morocco you need to file the ATC plan 24 hours prior to planned operation - although we have done it in two or three hours due last minute charter booked with no issues. If there are any issues with your route / schedule you will get a message from the DGCA via AFTN.

We haven't yet. And that was based on private as well as commercial non scheduled.

CAP555 gives you all the references or 2010 Acu-Qwik gives you good references too.

Cheers

If in doubt just send a notification to the DGCA or better still ask Merlin XX!

CAP555 technically speaking is for UK carriers only as it is a UK CAA publication but should give you a good indiacation of a countries requirements for aircraft not registered in the UK but don't totally rely on it!
