BA Open Skies

Evening gentlemen,

any idea why they operate with "AVI" as ICAO Callsign?
The flightnumber starts with the IATA "EC" which is connected to the ICAO Code "BOS" and the callsign "Mistral".
But I just saw today, that f.e G-BPEK operating the flight EC0021 is on the way to JFK as AVI021.

Anyone got an idea?

PS: AVI is Avion/Elysair.

BA openskies now operate on the Avion/Elysair AOC.

Thanks a lot :)
Do you know why?

I'm afraid I don't know the exact reason.

I am guessing that with the majority of aircraft supposed to be originating from the french carrier Avion, it was probably easier to transfer the two G- reg than transfer the 3 or 4 F- reg aircraft they were expecting. The fact that 3 of the aircraft are based in Paris/Orly may also be a factor.
