Heavy freight/Cargo Handling at ABZ after 07DEC07

Does anyone, particularly with Oil company affiliations, have any views on this subject?

Once ServisAir withdraw from ABZ on Dec 7th there may be a commercial opportunity to provide this service for heavier freight.

Whilst ServisAir Cargo will remain alongside Menzies, there is as yet, no airside service to onload/offload freight A/C. Obviously Aviance/SAS etc. sort the freight on commercial flights, but dedicated freighters may find themselves up the apron without a forklift.

It is entirely possible for ServisAir Cargo or Menzies to get airside permits for a crew, but it's never been seen as applicable before?

I guess I'm wondering if there would be sufficient custom to thrash through the intense admin that would doubtless ensue if trying to set-up a boutqiue operation to service an infrequent but nevertheless crucial need.

At the moment, oil companies often fly components into Prestwick and Inverness because there is no offload facility at ABZ (at least not to my knowledge).

Any feedback very welcome.
