Who handles who? - The 2007 thread!
This was a thread in 2005 asking PPRuNers to state which airlines were handled by which handling agents. http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?t=134015
As the industry is always changing, I thought it'd be a good idea to revisit this idea by launching a new thread for 2007. I'll get the ball rolling by using EMA as an example Penauille-Servisair Thomsonfly, MyTravel Airways, First Choice Airways, EasyJet, Ryanair, Air Malta, Spanair, Air Europa, BritishJet, GB Airways, Austrian Arrows, Monarch Airlines, LTE. Menzies Aviation Thomas Cook Airlines, Eastern Airways, bmibaby (currently only ramp with bmibaby having their own front of house and dispatch staff) and bmi regional (again currently only ramp with bmibaby handling front of house and dispatch) |
All at Manchester
Menzies Aviation,
Air Southwest, Jet2, and HLX, SkyEurope, Easjet, Thomas Cook/MYT, BimBaby - Baggage only. Penauille-Servisair, Thomsonfly, First Choice Airways, Ryanair, Lufthansa, Icelandair, Aer Lingus, Aer Arann, Air Berlin, US airways, Singapore Airlines, XLA/TravelCity, Zoom, Air Canada, Astraeus, Aurigny Air Services, Qatar Airways, Csa Czech Airlines, Onor Air, Swiss, Fedex, Saudi Arabian, Lot Polish. It seems a shame that one of the PPRuNers who contribute to this thread doesn't start a small web site to track Who Handles Who, initially for the UK and then (perhaps) for rest of Europe.
Although it could never be a 100% accurate, it would still be a useful resource. |
Let's do it!

jer
globespan have apparently given their handling to servisair,
In the summer we also handle Lufthansa, & Eurowings and the swiss flt mentioned further up is now operated by Darwin - on a saab 2000 having your own page to update would be much easier to keep accurate. |

The Air Ground Services Site as per KiloMike's post:

Someone already has! Weell for LHR anyway.
http://www.airgrounduk.bravehost.com/ Whilst there is NO reason why this could not be extended to all UK Airports, except garnering and then maintaining that level of detail would be time consuming. When I made my initial post on this subject I was thinking of someone effectively replicating the infromation from this threads posts with a few added links to the Airport and Resident Agencies into a simple HTML template structure and doing this as a non-commercial spare time activity. Four, or five years ago, this would have been the way to go and even today would be a quick way of getting the basic information out there. But keeping the Information up to date (even if limited to UK Airports) could easily become a miserable chore for the poor webmaster. So when fredtheanorak suggested updated by us just like Wikpedia. However (Cassandra time). a) I don't think (maybe I am wrong) PPRuNe would be 'up for this'. b) A free for all update approach wouldn't work and someone would have to be in charge, to verify data etc (Moderator, Webmaster, whatever). c) Whilst my initial thoughts would mean the site could run on the 'freespace' provided by an ISP, or Geocities et al, going down a Wiki route requires backend Databses and something like PHP server side. Plus the scripts to run it (In many cases NOT available in 'freespace') However I still think it would be a good Idea and for a microsecond I thought of adding it to my ever increasing 'Projects to Do' list, but sense kicked in as if I complete a fifth of what is currently on the list this decade, it will be a miracle! I hope soemone does bite the bullet as I am sure they could get some revenue from sponsership and even Google Ads. I doubt it would ever be self-supporting, but at least costs would be partially defrayed and by having a team of correspondents keeping the information up to date, it would gradaully extend coverage into Europe, almost 'organically'. So over time it could become one of those resources that people rely on. DIH |
Actually its not run by a 'Heathrow Insider' just someone who is fascinated by ground handling. I have on occassion emailed him with updates etc perhaps others also have and that's why he is so up to date.
