Air Atlantique
Could anyone please provide any details they have regarding the company? I may have an interview lined up working in OPS on the ATR fleet and would love to hear any relevant information.
Cheers JAS |
Ops job at AAG is essentially fire-fighting.
Gone are the days of the last minute charter when you wondered whether your head will actually explode. A lot of the work the ATR's and Metro do now is ACMI, so it's a case of keeping on top of flight plans, liaising with the charterers regarding routes, flight planning and organising crewing and HOTAC. On top of this you will flight watch and work with the Reconaissance fleet too (mainly filing flight plans for MCA and getting WX and NOTAMS). There's a brief outline - PM me if you want any more info. Cheers and good luck. |
5150, Please check your pm's.
Cheers JAS |
JAS
5150 is spot on. Mind you there is only 2 working in ops, trying to cover 24/7 and have heard one is leaving next month, please feel free to PM me, as can pass more info as well, for your interview. Boba |
Does Mr Kuspert still work with them or has he moved on
|
Mr Kuspert is still at CVT, working for Atlantic Airlines, not Air Atlantique.

Air Atlantique Operations 24 hour ops to support the 24 hour operation. Consists of at least an ops officer & ops assistant at any one time. Crewing dept & Commercial dept during normal office hours. Ops Assistant 2 weeks classroom training Ops Officer: 2 months classroom training to include JAA regs - Flight planning, Duty Limitations, ops procedures e.t.c. 1 month on the job training with ops supervisor (Line Training) Ops Supervisor Promotion after 1 year as ops officer Ops Manager Promotion of ops supervisor when vacancy available Then there`s the crewing dept & Commercial dept liasing closely with operations. Oh sorry, must have been dreaming, here we go: 18 hour ops to support the 24 hour operation. Consists of someone sitting at a desk manning the phone. Crewing dept yet to exist & Commercial dept open during normal office hours. Ops Assistant Doesn`t exist Ops Officer: Couple of days watching some guy file flight plans. Ops Supervisor Could consist of anybody happenning to be in the office at the time. Ops Manager Whoever it says on the last edition of the AOC postholder section. Crewing Department Whats a crewing department? But of course we`re still classed as the best ACMI / Charter operator in the industry, aren`t we ? Here`s a list of phrases that may help you get through the interview: Fudge Reduced Rest Discretion Position Self Drive Just go VFR Is your MEP still valid But it`s not classed as public transport You`ve now got 2 EDO`s (starting yesterday) It`s the Atlantic Way So hope that helps, just a quick insight of what to expect. Like 5150 said, it`s fire-fighting, but the best bit about it is the crews , they`re awesome ! Sounds like you`re missing ops 5150 ! |
So how come the ops/crewing functions of Atlantic + Antique are not combined  2 seperate AOC's maybe, but that surely doesn't stop a combination of duties.
I suspect the salaries at Antique will put people off applying, especially those who may not live in the area. Anyone any clues about salaries on offer  |
Space:
Hilarious as usual! You did forget the following keywords: What's a roster? We can't give you the leave you requested nine months ago. What do you mean you're leaving? Cya later ! |
:D I guess someone will apply. Not me though. :ok:
|
Missed another one ....
Never forget the "sharp pencil" |
Well I have got an interview confirmed for this week. I'll go down with an open mind and see what is on offer. I just hope that a total re-structure of the department is on hand and that the road forward is bright.
Cheers JAS |
I can sympathize with the staffing problems, we have been looking for experienced Ops guys for months and just can't get any, day time only, small freindly company and all that and no takers with any experience at all.
Phil |
Phil,
I take it that you currently work for the company? |
No, I'm saying how hard it is to get Ops staff for my outfit, let alone for a 24hr manned Op
Phil |
Phil......I see, sorry for the confusion.
In the event of not being successful, does anyone know of any other airlines who are looking for ops staff / flight planners etc ? Cheers JAS |
Yes,

Sorry,
Haven't logged on here for a couple of days, I am from Centreline, main office in BRS, outstations CVT, SEN. Run Senecas and Kingairs, a jet on the horizon. Phil |
Air Atlantique
Hi, I'm new to this thread but have been invited for interview for one of the Ops positions at CVT later this week.
Judging by some of the other comments it sounds as though they are a difficult company to work with. Would you recommend to cancel the interview ? What salary would I expect ? |
Feel free to pm me if you require some information.

I see Atlantic are once again looking for Operations Officers, as well as a Flight Ops Admin Officer. Is this to cover expansion or to replace people leaving
Let me guess, salary for an Ops Officer in the region of £17k  |
I've seen those adverts too. I thought Atlantic Airlines had split away from Air Atlantique therefore run under different management with a seperate flight ops unit.
Can anyone shed any light? |
It certainly used to be that Atlantic answered Atlantiques's phones after hours, and ran the 24 hr call out, I think they also flightwatched Atlantiques charter stuff at nights too although that might have changed.
I'm normally not one to be negative but its a dreary outdated place to be on pretty awful wages. Use it only as a stepping stone to a flying job as. |

Phil Its just a shame the airlines don't open their eyes and realise if they pay peanuts they get monkeys!!! If the pay was attractive they would attract the right kind of person. You have to pay for experiance. Rgds Slow Progress |

I'm normally not one to be negative but its a dreary outdated place to be on pretty awful wages. Use it only as a stepping stone to a flying job as. Most have moved on to better things. It was a great place to learn, but the low pay and very unappreciative management meant it was never a long term job. |

Atlantic / Atlantique Operations
I realise the question has been asked a number of times but can anyone answer what the likely salary is for the above mentioned jobs?

About £15K maybe a touch more

Hello peeps..
AAQ (as space oddysey said) an 18hr watch, from 0600 til 0000.. The remainder is done by Atlantic airlines, which are a completely separate company, BUT are very close to AAQ.. As regarding the continuous recruiting, what space oddysey was and is partially true today.. but i have noticed a change in the ops training.. For the better.. The reason they are always recruiting in my opinion is because we employ Ops officers who want to be pilots, which is fair enough.. BUT when they get sick of AAQ Ops after 2 months, they decide to go off and get a flying job, which is fine, but why take on guys who want to fly unless you give them some sort of security to say that after X amount of months/years, they are guaranteed to fly.. At the moment.. the carrot was dangled, but nobody in my time stuck it out to see if the illusive job was at the end of the tunnel.. It is hard work, and you have to show your 'flexibility' with the company in order to reap the rewards.. Look at the fugs of past present and future.. we all bend over and do whatever we are told to do.. because you know if you dont, there are hunderds of people who would happily take your place.. with that mentality in mind, the company in general expect everyone to do the same.. regardless of what job you do.. Quote-Spaceodyssey: ''Its the Atlantic Way!!'' RH28 |
"It is hard work, and you have to show your 'flexibility' with the company in order to reap the rewards.. "
The Ops guys at times had to show a great deal more 'flexibility' than anyone else in the company but not a sniff of thanks or gratitude and definitely no rewards to be reaped. (Obviously as a Fugly it was a different case, sweat blood and tears for a while - get an ATPL and a flying job at the end of it). Until the management show a bit more appreciation for the guys who keep everything running as smoothly as it can possibly be at Air Frantic, the job of Ops Officer will always remain a stepping stone. |
Ok,
I understand where your coming from, sometimes you dont get the praise that maybe is deserved, maybe because the other people in the office feel they work just as hard as ops, i am aware that ops are very hard working.. and know of situations of the 'nightmare shift' going from 1500-0000 then 0600-1500.. when they stay on site for the 6hrs rest, then being woken up by the cleaner at 5am.. although this isnt nice, it isnt often, in fact very rare.. Although you are mostly correct about atlantic, i think that it DOES work generally in life, i have known people with ATPL(f) work as cabin crew for 6 months or a year, with no promise of a job.. and it has worked.. a bit of sticking power stands for a lot in todays modern society where if you dont find a job, you go and do a type rating, failing that, you pay some robbing airline for your liine training (also setting a very bad president for future pilots) I must apologise, Im going off on one now!! |
