Setting up a Flight Dispatch

Hello there,

Currently setting up a Flight Dispatch and need advice on Flight Ops softwares (FOS, Air Ops, ...).
We will soon have a fleet of over 20 aircrafts (mainly business jets),
so we need something suitable for that kind of operations.
What do you use?, what do you suggest? Any advice very welcome ([email protected]).
We don't need to do any crewing by the way, only flight watch and ops control (and probably a commercial/quotation option).

Thanks for your help.

Cheers

Re: Setting up a Flight Dispatch

Personally, I would have a look at what Jeppesen's have got to offer. We use more of their software than I care to mention. Its straight forward and fairly simple to use.....

Can İ offer a bit of advice, first closely evaluate what is out there by having the vendors come to you for demonstrations and then go out and visit airlines using the system to see it in action. Give careful consideration to a system that offers more than just basic flight watch and a movement control display. I of course don't know how you do your crewing, but much of the benefit of an electronic ops movement control system revolves around managing crews, their hours and duty records etc. Justifing the cost for just ops movement control may be difficult, I would give careful consideration to including other operational sections such as crewing, duty records, maintenance and if you like, payroll in your selection of system. The real benefits of an computerised ops system are in the integration of many of the ops other disciplines as mentioned above. Commercial costing modules are included in many of the system available, but will often need the data of the other disciplines to produce useable data.

Take your time and realise that you (or the users) will have to adapt to the way the system works and not the other way around.

There are many systems which you can build on as the operation increases in size and a search on the web will get you there. Good Luck.

I'm currently setting one up and some help would be appreciated. The department will need ops controllers/flight dispatchers very soon.

SITA Flt Ops have Ops Control systems..
check out or you can contact John Alderman who is the marketing mgr for more info.
They released a Crewing system last year which is fully intergrated with their Ops Contron system or can stand alone. I agree with no sig the Crew element has more impact. Usualy first thing that gets computerised is Crewing (thank god!!!)
cheers

Edit: Guys, please do not put links to commercial organisations here. That is plain advertising and we cannot let it stay. PPRuNe, if you didn't know, but it's in the rules you signed up to, relies solely on revenue income from ads to keep this very expensive board available to you - for free. Hope that is clear. Using e-mails and PM's is a very good way of passing on some information which we have no objection to at all.

Thanks all for your kind replies, I do appreciate it. Seems strange maybe but we indeed dont' need to do any crewing at all. By the way, we are looking for flight dispatchers (flight planning). Willing to relocate to Switzerland and fluent in french (mandatory).

Thanks again for your help

Flight Ops software

I have done a very brief evaluation on 3 different software packages, and have selected two for further evaluation. I will be looking at a further proof-of-concept evaluation starting in Feb. The operation has 18 pilots and seven aircraft, all different types; if anyone has experience of this type of planning software, I would appreciate a PM.
Thanks

After evaluation of our needs, we have now selected our ops software: BizFlight from Travico, www.travico.ch

Really suitable for our type of operations.

Anyway, thanks again all for your inputs.
