midirection of resourses

Yesterday I attemted to start a discussion about the misdirection of resources when it came to keeping aircraft and airports and indeed the country safe from terrorism, and I posed a question as to wether or not political correctness was endangering both our industry and the country at large. In it I staed that there is a large part of our society who have no history whatsoever of ever commiting attacks against aircraft and airports, and yet every time they enter an airport they are treated as potential suspects. When we know from which part of the population terrorists have come from, that is not to say that all people from this section of society are terrorists, far from it most are law abiding members of our country. However why are we wasting money and resources being directed at searching people who we know for sure have never had terrorists in there mist instead of directing these resourses in the correct direction and actually giving us a chance of preventng a real attack and catching the real terrorists instead of window dressing.

I believe my posting was censored, why is this? can anyone give me an answer that is based in logic, or has our right to freedom of speach been removed from us by the back door?

I suspect (if your other post's are anything to go by!) it has nothing to do with freedom of "speach" but more to do with complete inane drivel and lack of relevance to Flight Ops, Crewing and Dispatch

Straight talk and humour

Actually you are quite wrong, there is a time for humour and a time for debate, this entry is the later, so lets hear what you have to say on the matter. Anything to add?

Lets think about this. If a member of a terrorist society was to hold at gun point the family members of a non terrorist society and sujested that they do some thing bad to the rest of the non terrorist society, who happen to be going on an aircraft on a non terrorist holiday. How would we prevent this from happening if we don't treat everybody as a suspect.

Ain't no freedom of speech here on Pprune, Magic. If Danny or the mods don't like what you've typed, it goes in the bin. Simple as that. If yer don't like it, freespeech.com is just a click away.

Just because a part of our society has no history of attacks on aircraft and airports does not make them immune from such urges in the future. All parts of society have been involved in terrorism of some form over the years! Male/ female, old/ young, black/ white, makes no difference. Give them a cause and a bomb and you've got yourself a terrorist.

Cheers Buddy, have you started looking for a job yet? I suggest you do!

Magic Buff 10th Mar 2005 21:41

Oh Dear

Thanks for your reply Big Tudor, I don't agree with you, but at least you seem prepared to discuss the issue. I don't believe every group is endeared to attack aeroplanes, The IRA for example never targeted civilian aircraft, Al Queda on the other hand speaks for itself.

Cumberland- you are a greasy saussage and cheers buddy has found himself a job.

The IRA for example never targeted civilian aircraft
So what about the attacks on LGW & LHR in the early 90's?
Al Qaida used the methods on 9/11 for major impact, and they acheived it. They have no reason to ever use that method again, that single attack has resulted in major expenditure for airlines and airports and major inconvenience for the travelling public. The after effects of the attacks of 9/11 will be felt for many years to come. As an act of terrorism it was probably the most successful in history. Even if Al Qaida never carry out another attack their entry into the terrorist hall of infamy is assured.

Why would they try to attack another aircraft, the risk of detection is far to great now to risk such an attack. There are numerous other methods they could adopt to create just as much chaos. Imagine the effects of exploding a super tanker filled with crude oil or chemicals in Boston harbour for example.
