Swissport Uniform

Just wondering if all Swissport stations are providing the same uniform. At STN they are changing over to an all red ensemble that makes you look across between a fireman and Krusty the clown. The tops are not too bad but bright red trousers with two high viz stripes, blue knees and blue pocket linings are a bit much for the eye.

The main bugbear is about shorts, as no shorts are issued people have worn their own or cut down the trousers provided. Management are now saying that this is unacceptable and shorts cannot be worn (they are more worried about uniform at STN, than whether people actually do their jobs!). If groundstaff at other Swissport stations are provided with shorts or a slightly less garish colour scheme it would be handy to know.

Was taxying in yesterday and thought there was an unwell pax on board a Ryanair 73... then i realised it was the the handling crew and not a paramedic team waiting for the aircraft to come onto to stand..

That horrid uniform is being rolled out across their stations but for now only when new unform is required and for new starters.

Thankfully i left EGSS earlier this year and avoided having to were that! The grey one was bad enough, i mean whats wrong with navy blue?

In a dirty environment the grey was a stupid choice and as for the bright red .

Some mates of mine have the new uniform and others are still in the the grey, the new one makes them look like they are part of Ferrari's pit crew.

Regards.

From a Manchester point of view, most of us like the new red uniform its better than just blending in. It does look more professional than just a dull plain navy one.

All staff are being issued with the red uniform once the old gray uniform is worn out..

Swissport uniform policy needed

Hi guys,
I currently work for Servisair, now Swissport at LHR and we're trying to get hold of uniform policy. It's taking our management ages.
Can someone screen shot it their one, the Swissport one?
All stations pls

I really really appreciate it.

KASIALEC82 - You appear to have posted the same question on 3 separate threads.... I'm not sure that will get you an answer any quicker.

Please refer this to your station manager at LHR who will either have a copy or be able to obtain one for you.

Do you have any specific questions that are so urgent? I may be able to assist.

SAT1 - I can tell you that shorts are allowed - down to the Station Management Team to approve. And yes, knee pads are supplied, but you should be wearing them with the long trousers too...

Swissport Uniform

Thank you Capt Wannabe.
I do have it now however my management is quite strict about the uniform.
How to do the scarf, whether to wear a waistcoat or not etc
And as far as I know them they must have changed the policy. They made it the way they liked it, the way it suits them.
That's why I'd like to see the original one. Not
the amended one.
Yeah I know I've posted in 3 different threads as I'm trying to get my answer ASAP and it looks like you're the first one to reply thank you

From memory (I don't have it with me at the mo), there are about 3 different ways to wear the scarf. I would be surprised if the local management have changed the policy as you suggest but I guess it could happen.
Remember, specific airports, and even customers, can have different requirements on uniform standards. Provided it's consistent I don't really understand how one way or another could better suit your management as you suggest.

I'll see if I can find a copy tomorrow. Have you spoken to you manager about this and raised your concerns - although from what you say they are questions rather than concerns?

Swissport Uniform

Thank you once again Capt Wannabe!
Well regarding my management - no I have not spoken to anyone. It's another long story.

I'm the ground staff at LHR and noticed at that other stations ie LTN doesn't have to wear a waistcoat. Which would really make our lives easier as on hot days we have to seek approval.
Also on some airlines we aren't allowed to take jackets off. The jacket has to be on at all time even if you're popping out to the toilet from your desk.
As I said the scarf has got to be worn in a certain way (different to the way that it is on Swissport website!)
Also ladies hair has got to be in a bun - well the length wise - cannot touch the collar. However this doesn't apply to everyone. Men are not allowed to have a beard. Well it doesn't apply to you if you're husband/wife etc of someone higher up. There's a favoritism all the way!
There's lots of bits and bobs as color of your nail varnish, earrings, lipsticks etc

Trust me the story is long

I also think it's time for me to move on
Too many years in the kindergarten

Ps. If you have a copy of it I'd really appreciate it.
