The correct time to release the mechanic after starting the engines on the A320
At my airline, which encourages single-engine taxiing as standard procedure, when we start both engines in position, it is mandatory to release the mechanic only after the second engine has finished starting, and we waste precious time waiting for the mechanic’s signal...
I would like to know how this is handled elsewhere in the world, as this measure seems pointless to me, given that when we taxi on a single engine and start the second engine whilst taxiing, we do not have a mechanic on board.

Many thanks for your attention!
