Qualified Air Accident Investigators are being offered free passes to attend the in-person 2026 Aircraft Cabin Air Conference, taking place in London on 22–23 September 2026.

These passes have been made available by the estate of former pilot Dr Susan Michaelis BCA(hon) who sadly died last year. Dr Michaelis was the first person in the world to obtain a PhD on contaminated aircraft cabin air and was also qualified as an air accident investigator when she completed an MSc in Air Safety and Accident Investigation at Cranfield. Her former pilot union, the Australian Federation of Air Pilots (AFAP), was the first pilot union in the world to investigate these issues in the 1990s.

Since then, accident investigation agencies around the world have issued nearly 100 safety findings and recommendations relating to contaminated cabin air, smoke, fumes, bleed air contamination, crew impairment, reporting, maintenance, detection and prevention.

For accident investigation agencies, the conference provides a valuable opportunity to hear from investigators, scientists, medical experts, engineers, aircrew representatives, regulators and technical solution providers on a subject that continues to appear in safety investigations internationally.

The complimentary passees cover the conference only. They do not include the optional conference delegates’ dinner at the Royal Air Force Club.

• your email addresses;
• confirmation of the organisation you represent;
• Any dietary needs.

She will then provide a registration code enabling you to register free of charge.
