Heavy Weight Wheel Assy vs Light Weight?
Hi,
I have a query regarding wheel assemblies for anyone who may be able to help me. The company I work for operates EMB 120 (Brasilia) aircraft and is in the process of substituting heavy weight wheel assemblies for light weight ones. Hence, at any given time an aircraft may have one light weight and one heavy weight wheel on a single leg. Embraer has approved this configuration. It has been suggested that this is a potentially unsafe practice. For those engineers/designers who are familiar with the concept, does a potential problem exist? (I'm not an Engineer by the way). Any comments and thoughts appreciated. Thanks in advance. RAIM |
I could see a potential for disaster here. Each wheel will spin up diferently on touchdown and may cause problems. May be disasterous in wet conditions.
