Departure Maintenance Checks
Can a few of you fellas give me some reliable information on the prevalence of Maintenance Departure Checks involving Licenced Engineers (A&P/LAE/LAME) in both International and Domestic Operations, wherever you are stationed.
By Departure Maintenance Checks, I include a Maintenance Preflight to determine airworthiness/serviceability, Fuelling/Servicing, doors secured and locked, and whether or not you are involved in the pushback as well. If you do not get involved, i.e. are only there for defect rectification, do the pilots carry out a more in depth preflight than that required in the AFM and if so do they receive any extra training. Cheers |
We do all of the above, including headset on pushback and fuelling.

Thanks spanners,
Could you give me an idea of your locale/NAA/Operator if you're comfortable with it? Via email if you like. Cheers |
We are onlly responsible for dept wac and defect rectification. Fuel company handle the fueling, baggage handlers check the doors and do the push backs and tows. (The are trained for this).
I like it, especially when it rains!! We work under the FAA though located in LHR:rolleyes: |
private message on its way.

AN LAME
We cater,drop bogs, sheduled maintenance, defects,maintain ground equipment, de-ice, towing, stores management and most things that nobody else want's to do. What we don't do is push/power backs.:p |
crew T/Rs
ref crew T/Rs.......depends on the company, if engineers do not visit the A/C on a t/r the capt is trained and authorised to carry out this procedure, which is basically a walk round, no servicing of systems is permitted, if any servicing is req'd it needs an engineering presence and certification by the appropiately approved engineer ( who may not necessarily be licenced );)

Everywhere I have been the engineer has been responsible for the Walkround/defects/daily etc. Supervised the fueller/bogs/water, and been ultimitly responsible for hatches and doors ie. the final walkround.
The push/headset is done by the contracted handling company. |
