JAR-66 Licence
Hi, guys !
I am having a question concerning the approval of a JAR-66 licence. I worked for Lufthansa in Munich for about 11 years. Because we do not had a intl. valid licence like other country´s, Lufthansa did their own stuff. So we got ratings which are officially worthless when you leave the company. I am now trying to get my JAR-66 licence in germany. It´s a pain in the bud with the german authority. Today I got a letter, that they issue a restricted JAR-66 licence which is just valid for Lufthansa and I should pay 2400 Euros to get the licence. Does anybody of you know a cheaper way. I have heared sweden will be o.k. ! Internet adresses are welcome. Thank you |
TRY DUBLIN. I KNOW OF A SOUTH AFRICAN WHO CHANGED HIS SOUTH AFRICAN LICENCE FOR A JAR66.SINCE WHEN DID SA JOIN UP I ASK MYSELF. I AM AGAINST PEOPLE SHOPPING ROUND FOR THE BEST PLACE TO CHANGE TO A 66 BUT AS LONG AS IT IS ALLOWED GO FOR IT.

I believe that if you are German that you will have to deal directly with the LBA and only the LBA.
I am an Irish national but had CAA licences (U.K.), I was connying in DUB FLS and enquired about converting while there. the reply from the IAA was no way. I had to convert thru the CAA. I'm afraid I think the South African may have been telling porkies, I have looked up converting a non-jaa licence to a JAR 66 and it does not make pleasant reading. See JAA Administration & Guidance Material, Section 2 Maintenance, Part Two Procedures, Chapter 40: Conversion of non-jaa licences for info. As laid back as the Irish are, when it comes to Rules and Regs. the IAA are one of the toughest I have ever dealt with. |
JAR 66
The fact the LBA is granting you a restricted JAR 66 License must mean they will give you credit from a number of the modules, if the LBA is running along similar lines to the UK CAA i would ask them a number of questions, with the CAA you have to wrap up everything on first application or it can be very expensive.

I am an Irish national living in Australia, I hold Numerous airframe and engine ratings on my Aussie Licence.
I also hold a B737 Airframe Irish licence which I have recently converted to a restricted JAR 66 licence. The IAA would not grant my engine ratings despite holding 11 large turbofan engine ratings, the reason for this was because I did not complete my Jet turbine Basics in Ireland before leaving. I now find myself in a position of having not only to complete the Avionics modules but also to do the Basic Jet again. Unfortunaetly for me Australia is not a JAA member state and despite holding JAR 145 release to service equivalent to a C licence I get no exemptions |
