Mech.Engineer wants to be Aero.Engineer
 

Hi

I have graduated with bachelor in mechanics (in English), because in my country(Lithuania) the aviation specialty is of quite poor quality...so the problem is that I want to be an aviation engineer. Would it be possible to have a masters degree in aerospace engineering or are there some other ways to become an aero.engineer? If the master is possible could you suggest some universities that offer such master degree in EU, I mean good universities and of course so that the price of studies would be reasonable.Thanks in advance!

If your BEng is any good and you have an adequate English language qualification, almost certainly you'd be accepted on a British MSc.

You've two choices, either go for a specialist MSc in a particular narrow subject matter (for example, Cranfield) or a general "Aerospace Engineering" MSc (such as Brunel).

For an EU student, the costs would be around £3,000 for a 12-13 month MSc, plus your living costs.

But, don't be afraid of applying for aero jobs with a MechEng degree, apart from a few of the most specialist jobs, most of them will be open to you.

For years, mech folk have filled aero slots, and vice versa, in Australia and other countries. The basic degrees contain a lot of common studies.
