B737-800 apu

hi, this may seem a silly question, how do u start up the apu on the 800? with or without ground power and what checks do you perform?

cheers

It is! Considering the context of your question within PPRUNE.

I'll cut a you a little slack, though. It is not all that different from similar vintage airliners.

isnt it just a matter of switching a switch marked apu down to start.

would one one the checks be like to test the fire bell for the apu as well?

plus i think you can start it with either but im no expert thats just guess

battery on, fire test, check lights on center pedestal that they illuminate, apu switch start, check egt rising, monitor egt, apu gen light illuminates once apu started, apu gen on. you have power. Same for ext power.
Corrections welcome, been awhile since i have touched a n/g

To add up you need to excite the APU Generator field by momentarily placing one of the generator switches to the on line position prior to starting the APU.
