Cessna 152 ALT/BAT switch
Hello All,
Hopefully an easy to answer question please. In the Cessna 152, the joint ALT/BAT switch. Are these two switches fully mechanically independent of each other (no mechanical link between them) or are they linked mechanically in certain conditions. I.E. turn ON the ALT and that also turns ON the BAT? OR am I getting confused with the similar switches in pipers that are mechanically linked and the Cessna switches are fully independent? Thanks in advance Alex Ford. |
Blimey, :ooh: now you got me thinking and I operate them every day lol...Same as a Piper I think or I am 99.99999% sure, you turn one on and it turns the other on as you said, but you can turn the alt off and then on on it's own..........
But will just check tomorrow :8 |
Been many moons, but I believe the NutLoose is correct. They go to the on position together, but you can turn off the alternator half of the switch with the battery half of the switch will stay on.

Mechanically, they are one switch. Electrically, they are not. Electrically, they are two independent switches.

Piper I checked today they could both be turned off and on independently of each other....
Cessna 152 switch just checked this minute Alt cannot be turned on without it turning the Battery switch half on, ie push the Alt half in and the Battery half goes in too. Battery can be turned on, on its own without turning the Alt switch half on. Once Battery half is on Alt can be turned off and on independently as long as battery half remains on.. Two switches built into one item. Hope that helps Now on a 172R you have one Avionics Master switch, but that has 2 independent switch halves internally for both Avionics bus bars.. but only one externally visible operatable switch :ooh: |
