Backshell tape P/N
 

Hey guys.

I'm looking for the p/n of a specific fiber tape used on connectors backshell on the Canadair CRJ. I know the company is Permacel but I can't find it easily on their website and Bombardier is unable to answer properly to this simple question ( no surprise... :ugh:).

It's usually found in 1" or 2" wide standard size and it prevent friction between the wires bundle (which it wrapped around) and the backshell ty-rap holder.

Unfortunately, the Permacel website doesn't give a clear picture of the tape and I would have to use special magic before making a requisition...
I will have a look at Scotch 70: it's not something we use over here.

I had never imagine that it would be a big project for a roll of tape... :{

This is from the BAe146 Electrical standards manuals:

1" thermo setting glass cloth tape
max. temp 200oC
White
3M Part No.365 or 27

These are fairly old manuals so do not know if 3M exists or if the numbers are current.

At a stretch steal a strip from the cargo bay lining panels!!!

This is my first post here and I hope it can be useful.

I think you are looking for the fiberglass tape usually found at the CRJ connectors to avoid chaffing the wires with the backshell.

If that is the case, you can use 3M 69 tape or any other brand that meets the MIL-I-19166 standard. The permacell for P/N for this standard is 212.

Well your English is faultless as far as I am concerned, and I AM ENGLISH !!!

If you are looking at Permacel cloth tape then it is P-212HD Glass cloth, silicone adhesive, flame retardant; 0.010 inch thick, 1/2, 3/4, 1 inch widths. Boeing specification is grade C class 2 tape. This replaces obsolete tape part number P263.
For TFE tapes then it is P-421 a PTFE, skived, pressure sensitive thermosetting adhesive per MIL-T-23594; 0.0065 inch thick, 1/2 inch wide or P-440 PTFE, glass supported, pressure sensitive silicone adhesive; 0.005 inch thick, 1/2 inch wide. Both grade D class 2 specification.
Regarding Scotch 70 this is a grade C class 2 self bonding silicone rubber tape produced by 3M with properties of high temperature; 0.012 inch thick, 1 inch wide
