Fitting Impulse Magentos to a Lycoming O-145

Afternoon chaps,

Would any of you happen to know where I could get hold of a dual impulse magneto kit to fit to the Lycoming O-145 in my aircraft?

Cheers,

Ox

Try the link above. They service all of our magnetos and are very good.

You could fit an impulse mag to a 0-145, but I really do not see the need.
This engine has a very low compression ratio so it is quite easy to hand prop without having to worry about kick back.
Why do you want to fit an impulse mag?
If it ain't broke don't change it!

Cheers

La4a,

The reason i'm looking into fitting an impulse magneto onto my aircraft's O-145 is that I learnt the hard way about it's hot-starting characteristics! (Took 3 hours and 10 prop-swingers to get it started again after a 20 minute flight!)

I suggest you check the following:
a. check cylinder compressions
b. check spark plugs and leads
c. check magnetos and timing
d. carb and mixture
Normally the 0-145 starts 2nd or 3rd pull cold
and a few more if warm.
Best of luck
