TCAS TEST: Tic TR-220
Hello guys,
Our company just bought a brand new Multifunction tester from Tic: a TR-220. Unfortunately, we didn't received any training except the clap in the back with the user manual... So tonight, we have to perform full TCAS test on a Dash-8... And it doesn't work! The tester seems to be stuck in ACQ mode and cannot track the signal. So, on the TA/RA VSI there is no target. :ugh: -TCAS self-test Pass; -XPDR test with ramp tester pass; -We're located in a fairly large hangar, but there's reflection for sure! -Weight off Wheel is good; -Rad ALT is set to 2000' AGL; -Ramp tester power has been boosted up for a try, with no luck; Any input would be appreciated! Ive used the tr220 only for enhanced mode s so far, but believe that it has a software solution to reflected signals. Not familiar with dash 8's ,but boeing /airbus require baro altitude, The manual wasnt bad as long as its for the correct revision of software, otherwise there will be some anomalies, does your amm have a test for the tr220, most seem to have a variety for different test gear.

TCAS
Unfortunately, the AMM and task cards have only instructions concerning the TCAS-201 tester, which we got rid of.
I finally got it figured out, by shielding the lower antenna, grabbing a ladder and installing the tr-220 10 feet from the top antenna in direct line of sight. The power measurement was then stable and acceptable. I was able to carry on with the scenarios. :ok: Thanks for your input, Fortuneteller. |
