Tools and ToolBoxes
:ugh:
Hi all, I am hopefully going to start some work contracting/experience at Stansted/Luton and I am wondering if anybody has a basic list of the tools I will require? and what marking if any have to be applied? I am currently in millitary aviation so I am used to having tools available at work. Has anyone got any good contacts or websites that supply the basics I will require. I am hopefully going to go down the avionics route so I presume there will be some essentials such as wirestrippers/crimping tools etc. I have tried searching the web to no avail.   |
try looking on www.airmech.co.uk . this has been discussed in the past an if you cant find the thread just ask.:ok:

You won't need crimping tools. There's too big a range that you might need and calibration is always an issue. Wire strippers also need calibration but you can usually get that done on site.
As for the rest, all you need is a Snap-On screwdriver and an adjustable spanner;) |
Check out www.sears.com the craftsman stuff is bargain and guaranteed for life, i think they ship worldwide but not 100% sure,or find a mate who's going off to the US and give them a shopping list! but as a rough guide go for imperial / SAE 12 point sockets/ring spanners if thats not too obvious covering from 7/32" to about 1"

Navy Blue....You say you are going to be going down the avionics route, therefore your toolbox will need..Lunchbox, t-bags/coffee and a mug. you will also require a daily newspaper!
