Virgin Flights

On VS flights from Miami to the UK, is the cargo hold chilled/can it be chilled, if it is carrying "perishables", i.e flowers.

The airway bill (awb) states that certain flowers must be kept between a certain temperature. When they arrive at the clearing warehouse, the temperature is normally 20C+ which is far too high.

I was under the impression that the maximum temp was 8C.

Any further information?

Dan.

Don't need to chill the hold you just need your freight forwarder/airline to supply a refrigerated ULD.

Rear hold temp on 744 can be set at 8C, should normally be requested.

If the aircraft's been sat on the ground for a few hours the temperature in the holds is likely to be around the 30C mark during loading and will remain so for a few hours after departure.
