Outsource my job will you?
 
In this day and age of airlines threatening to outsource labor ie Qantas sending all wide bodied maintenance to *****. Where can an Australian LAME find jobs in not so third world countries?

South Africa is by definition a "Third World" country.

Third World, the technologically less advanced, or developing, nations of Asia, Africa, and Latin America, generally characterized as poor, having economies distorted by their dependence on the export of primary products to the developed countries in return for finished products. These nations also tend to have high rates of illiteracy, disease, and population growth and unstable governments.

Also I don't have the ratings that you have mentioned.

Soth Africa has it's problems but I wouldn't quite call it third world.

From the latest report of the CIA World Factbook:

South Africa is a middle-income, emerging market with an abundant supply of natural resources; well-developed financial, legal, communications, energy, and transport sectors; a stock exchange that ranks among the 10 largest in the world; and a modern infrastructure supporting an efficient distribution of goods to major urban centers throughout the region. However, growth has not been strong enough to lower South Africa's high unemployment rate; and daunting economic problems remain from the apartheid era, especially poverty and lack of economic empowerment among the disadvantaged groups. South African economic policy is fiscally conservative, but pragmatic, focusing on targeting inflation and liberalizing trade as means to increase job growth and household income.

Nevertheless, Dubai would be my preferred choice of domicile.

737 Maintenance next to go
 
Rumors is fact that Avalon has just received the go ahead to convert 737's to freighters for Austrailian Air Express to replace the ageing National Jet 727 fleet. My question is will Qantas do the same thing it did to Sydney Heavy to Tulla 737 maintenance.:hmm:

.............Is anyone looking for engineers in Dubai? I was under the impression that most companies in that part of the world, with the possible exception of Omanair, were all Airbus operators. So as much as I'd like to get a gig in Dubai, being 737 qualified sort of leaves me high and dry in much of the middle east I'd say.

where is QUANTAS sending their maintenance? If it is going north to Indonesia, work for post maintenance defect rectification should be available and warrenty claims for repairs tracking would be a growth sector. I am not quoting what I hear, I have done business with them and the quality/customer service aspects are lacking. Amazing how the ability to speak english disappears when there is a problem.

and as for South Africa. call it whatever world you like, but its good (if you got the skills) and you can experience first and third world all within one hour. But it is not for sissies.

Qantas has scheduled a "D" check for Haeco Hong Kong and other talks of sending over flow maintenance to Singapore. How Qantas can get slots on short notice for over flow I don't know.

South Africa sounds alright for the single guy but I would have doubts about taking a family especially with small children.

I don't know much more than I have posted. I believe the work will be locally certified.
As some instrustors from the training school will be heading to SASCO soon to run some bridging courses between SQ 744 and QF 744. Must be completed by the end April for the arrival of OJO.
