jaa licence requirments
can anyone provide info on the conversion of a Australian CASA licence to JAA licence and where any training may be gained.

At present there is no conversion from an Australian CASA licence to an EASA licence. You basically have to start the EASA licence from scratch.This means sitting all the module exams which are the equivalent to our basics. If you have any type ratings then your type courses will have to redone at an EASA 147 approved training centre. As far as I have been told from the UK CAA and a few other JAA countries the only excemption that we may get is on the practical experience if you can show this in a 145 approved maint organisation. Chucky is absolutely correct at present(and unlikely to be in the future)any exemptions or conversion of none EASA licenses to EASA part 66 ridiculous scenario if You ask Me but I don"t make the rules(unfortunately)

Which is wholly unfair 'cos I got my CASA GRP 20 ratings using the very sensible CTC system.

I agree it is unfair that EASA will not give any exemptions for a non-EASA licence. Speaking to CASA they are in talks with EASA about mutual acceptance of licences but who knows when an outcome will be!

Just get a job in any EU state (other than UK), buy a box of cornflakes and extract the license!:E
