Can anyone tell me in some details how hush-kits work (reduced t/o-thrust, spcial flaps setting etc)?

Most hush kits allow cold air to mix with the hot exhaust air, before the exhaust leaves the jet pipe. As noise is one of the products of temperture gadiant between hot and cold air.
