Info' on JAR66 anyone?
 

Hello all,

I am looking at the possibility of doing my JAR66, can anyone answer the following questions:

Can it be done in a distance learning home study type course, I am struggling to find the definitive answer on that one?
How long would it take?

And of course, how much dollar are we talking?

I am in a really handy situation where I would have no trouble gaining the on-hand experience once qualified.

I would really appreciate your feedback guys/ladies.

They are based at Cardiff Airport (ICAT) and provide distance learning materials, sit the exams in house at Cardiff (rather than trvaleing to Gatwick for example).

Or, they in partnership with University of Glamorgan offer a join BSc Hons degree with the B1.1 Jar66 license.....

I'm doing the university/jar66 option, and imo as a skint student currently, the training material costs are horrific! Try and purchase module notes SH, practase using the "practase exam bank" on club66.co.uk, so your prepared for the exam, and then sit them when your ready imo. :ok:

Unless I am totally mistaken a distance learnining course only provides theoretical subject knowledge yet to get an A licence you need to show relevant tech/hands on experience.

LRTT's course is very comprehensive combining theory and skills based training, however the Barry College, Brooklands distance learining courses only appears to "skim" the surface.

Before considering a distance learning course, ask questions to the providers along the lines of :- existing student backgrounds, target audience, techncial experience, pass rates etc.

These courses are not cheap so be mindfull!

I'd be weary of taking on any form of study for EASA exams if your not going to be getting hands. I'm currently half way through a full time course which if everything goes to plan will give me all my B2 exams but from experiance and from people who've finished my courses experiance companys are very reluctent to take you on because you just don't have the knowledge that goes with practicle experiance.

However you need 400hrs work experiance make sure any hours that you do can go toward these hours.
