JAR (EASA) type recency
 

Gday guys,
can anyone out there clarify a point of discussion for me?

I would like to know if the european airlines who come under EAsa have a MANDATORY requirement that engineers must have had aircraft TYPE recency training within the last 2 years relative to the aircraft they want to certify, or do they simply have to have 6 months GENERAL aircraft experience within the last 2 years to maintain recency for LAME's.

its a boring question, but I would sincerely appreciate any feedback that was factual.

Where I am (BA) you need to keep recency on type. I lost some cover due to the aircraft moving base and will no doubt have to re-sit the type course if it ever comes back.
Post EASA/JAA not quite sure how this works with regards to types held on your licence and how they would go about checking any experience you submit come renewal time....

Think you will find it is 6 mths TYPE recency for your TYPE and 6mths general in 24 mths for licence renewal.
