dual central maintenance computers

Hello, would anyone be able to help me with this question:

Q) On an aircraft capable of being equipped with dual central maintenance computer systems (CMCS) if only one CMC is available it :-

a) maybe fitted to either system
b) must be fitted to the left system
c) must be fitted to the right system

I would have thought (b), but I can't find the answer in my course notes or searching on the internet.

Thankyou Ben

Have a look at your MEL for that particular A/C.

According to Mr Boeings 744 DDG if two CMC's are fitted, either (only one ) may be unserviceable ( no remarks or exceptions ).

Not sure if there are any single CMC installations out there, but if there were, I would guess at a L/H installation.

Maybe our resident 747 expert QAVION can explain further

According to the AMM 747-400. If you fit a single CMC of a dual
CMC system. It must be fitted on the left side.

The MEL seems to be covering the situation of two fitted, but one is u/s. In this case it doesn't matter which side the servicable one
is on. Maybe the MEL needs to be ammended to cover the situation of a single computer fit.
