?any tips on ramjet building forums

Hi all,

I'm looking for direction in understanding ramjets, hoping there's either knowledge here or that someone might know of a forum to which I could sign up (or a retired ramjet/tipjet engineer who is very bored that I might, in a couple or few months, pester!). Rather a long shot, but I'm keen to understand more about effective ramjet design/function at the lower range of their sustainable velocity. I'm really interested in sustainable subsonic speeds - numerous articles say they can function at mach >0.7, but to my understanding they rely upon air being a non-compressible fluid, I.E.: at supersonic velocity. I presume that at mach .7 some clever topology of the inlet accelerates the air further upon arrival, and probably, compressing it, alters the speed of sound too... but I'm clutching at straws a bit.

Sadly I'm all science and no aerospace, and it's the pink squishy kind of science, so finding a forum in which I might politely ask a couple of dim questions would be an absolute treat.

If anyone has tips on good books on the subject aimed at the meanest of understanding, I'd bite your hand off.

If this is better posted in the martial section of the site do just say, as I'm aware that pure ramjets have, at present, very limited civil application.

Yours with thanks,
RPD
