737-200 Wing Removal
 

We are moving two 737-200 aircraft from Perth Airport by road to York, Western Australia.

The aircraft will need to have the wings, horizontal and vertical stabilisers removed before loading onto the trucks.

Is there anyone here with experience in removing the wings of a 737-200?
We would appreciate any advice or assistance in this venture. A copy of the Aircraft Recovery Manual would be of assistance too.

unfortunately the only way the wing will come off is if you get the local firies in to cut them off.
Tail ie hori stab vertical stab can be removed with difficulty so it could be re installed but wings no chance.

The lot at Brunty removed the VC10 wing for transporting it, that wasn't supposed to come off.

There is a 737-200 in a college in Hoofddorp, The Netherlands, that has had its wings removed (and refitted) for transportation. So it can be done.

If you want I can ask around as several people were involved with that job.

Well this says they are slid into the centre wing box and secured by 1600 bolts.

Interesting but, the 737-200 is was apparently built differently, the wings were never designed to be removed.

Not sure of the specifics, but the wings went on as a separate structure they sure could come off again. Would be a lot of work though. Engines off, landing gear off, lots of shoring up f the fuselage and wings then a lot of rivets to remove, finally the wing bolts.

Obviously never going to fly again. Who's doing the work for you?
