Waste Aircraft Tyres
Hi guys! I'm new to the forum - sent here by a friend.
I'm trying to find out what happens to end-of-life aircraft tyres such as those from a Boeing/Airbus etc. Any one able to shed some light for me? Thanks in advance! :) |
Welcome to the forums,
They tend to get retread. Smaller stuff, light A/C or business jets etc tend to be scrapped. see Watts Aviation | Our Products - Retreading Aircraft Tyres A book online is available all about them, see Watts Aviation | Technical Data I hope that helps NL |
When they are unsuitable for retreading some are used as fenders

Some of the farm tractors round here have tyres marked on the sidewalls with things like 'Max speed 250 MPH' I'm told they are aircraft remoulds.
