Maint of light aircraft under EASA

Hey guys

in a bit of a bind here. I need to know if it is possible to manage and perform your own maint on a light helicopter, or do I need to to send it to a 145 organisation ?

aircraft will not be on an AOC will be used for training.

thank you in advance.

Unless someone is prepared to write out the full answer, I suggest an enjoyable read of Part M.

I think you probably can do what you want to do, but plenty of conditions apply; first one being are you properly qualified to do it?

Available at the EU bookshop, consolidated with AMC/GM, not including ED 2013/005/R which doesn't apply to you anyway. Snip at 18 Euros + shipping.

And I believe there's guidance on the CAA website, if you're prepared to dig for it, that would apply if you are in the UK.

Im a licensed engineer so Im qualified.

if you are refering to LAMP under CAP 766 then I have had a read through but I cant see anywhere if its still applicable under easa.

I own and maintain a Cessna on my licence. Not a problem. You will need an arrangement for renewing the ARC with a Part M organisation. As I prepare all the docs and maintain them it costs me about £300 a year. I am a little cautious about the extra requirements a training aircraft might have (if any) as I have no experience in this area.

My annual maintenance costs excluding parts are £300 ARC, £100 Radio Annual.
All other labour is down to me.

Eric how much are you paying for the management ( part M ) part then ?

Is your training for financial gain?

ec155mech 25th May 2013 10:34

I wont be doing the trainning it will be leased to a school

Thinking back to my engineering days please correct me current guys, in the old days your aircraft would of needed a public transport CofA and be covered by an AOC.

Included in the £300. There must also be a CAA charge but I dont think it is more than £50 these days.
