EASA Part 66 Exams
 

Hi guys,

I recently sat a physics Exam for my Cat A Licence.

I used a well known company for study material to revise for the Exam.

Result - up to ten of the questions on the paper I was taking were completely unrelated to the study material i was using!!

This was rather fustrating at £43 an Exam and £30 for useless study books!

Could I please have some advice on a decent company to use and if anybody else has turned the paper over and got a shock like me?

Best bet is to use Club66pro as a guide to the types of questions the CAA are asking. Use these to supplement your notes and you should be ok.

It does cost but is worth every penny.

I did similar 20 years ago when sitting my LWTR Licences, studied hard but studied the well know typical questions extra hard. No different now with the new system.

I don't want to rain on your parade, but maths and physics are the easy modules..
if you studied for physics and failed it, I can't see you passing modules like 11, 7, 6 or 15.
I'm also talking about B1 level, not even A licence.

Maths and physics are hard exams along with the rest of them.

Can I give you just one piece of advice tho, if you are studying for your A, just go that little extra and sit your B licence. It's more work but you will find far more opportunities with the B licence than with your A.

If you are struggling, I suggest using a part147 short modular course. You have to have a good idea before going on the course but they teach you well.

Otherwise, as mentioned, club66 gives a very good clue to CAA exam questions which you will find helpful.

Don't give up.....it's a struggle and you will be frustrated if you fail exams but that's part of the journey! If you fail....think at where you struggled in the exam, write it down and have a look over your notes.
I was always weak on Gyros........(still am) but I looked over my notes time again and spoke to my colleagues and they put me on the right path.

For younger folks Maths and Physics are easy and M7, 11, 15 & 17 are hard.

For older mechanics Maths & Physics are very hard and M7, 11, 15 & 17 are easy modules.

Several times I had to send extra lessons for basic arithmetic, fractions & algebra etc....

Thanks for you replys. I was niavely under the impression that the Study notes I had would cover anything that the CAA would throw at me.......

I am no stranger to complex physics, maths, engineering science and I do hold higher level qualifications, so thought I would be ok!!

So club 66 is the way to go then, I will give them a try, the frustrating thing is I knew my study books inside out, I even had the mrs firing random questions at me and I could answer them all!!

I have not officially heard my results yet but I fear the worst.....

Oh I thought you had seen your results.
In that note and seeing you have the knowledge, I'm sure you will be fine.
I have on a few occasions walked out and thought I had failed and passed!!

Try sitting your exams with a Part-147-approved training establishment (if you are UK-based, at least) which also runs short, intensive Module courses.

You will (hopefully) still have to learn the material, but at least you will know that there is good correlation betwen the material you learn and the examinations.

UK CAA publishs a list of approved Basic Training establishments.

PS I would avoid FE colleges, especially in the SW of the UK, if you can; some have not mastered the art of delivering value for money on short courses, and in some the examinations are set independently of the teaching element and do not correlate closely. Be resourceful in your search.

I have now recieved results..... 66%, so not this time. :ouch:

Just have to take the knock I suppose.

I will try again in 90 days and use club 66 to along with study notes (from a different provider)

Unlucky kel247. That's not too sad of a result. That was my first score on Maths.
