Aircraft maint licence.. b licence help?

I'm currently in the armed forces as an aircraft tech on apache attack helicopter got 4 years experience. I'm going to do the modules in my own time before leaving the army ASAP (a good motive to study lol) but I know I need 1 year civilian experience as well as my army experience. How can I do this? Do I have to leave the army and work as a fitter for a year on an a license? Also out of interest, with my experience on helicopters would I not be able to get my license on aeroplane instead? Or would I have to work for 5 years as a fitter on aeroplanes for my experience? Any help would be much appreciated.

Ash,
Unfortunatley there is no good rule for this. The work has to be done with 145 organisation.

I see your 'experience' options as:

Wait til you get out and do 1 year as a "fitter" (If you can get a job).
Work for free (If someone will let you)
Work at night/weekends (If someone will let you)

You are doing the right thing if studying for your ticket now.

Best of Luck
Rigga
