Local aviation authority!!!!

The day after my fuel cap problem the local aviation auth came to do an inspection of our aircraft. They do this about every six months and cause all sorts of problems:mad: This time it was a new aircraft so very little for them to complain about, which was good but they did find a rivet missing from a pylon panel. I informed them i would put it on a deferral. This made him smile...I returen to the office called maintrol (who were great) got the SRM ref which i printed out to show the inspector and returned to fill out the log book, while doing this i gave him the SRM page to read. He then explained that i could not put this on a deferral as the SRM had a note to cross refer to another page which stated that the rivet had to be installed, he then pulled out a copy of the extra page and showed it to me!!!...(the rivet was on at aft edge of a panel which was secondary structure)
I read the page and saw that he was correct??? Odd so i reread it then noticed it was from a B737-800 and we were on a B767. I expalined that as far as i was concerned his page was worthless to me! His quote back "it does not matter that its from a different aircraft the manuals are all the same:eek: OMG My turn to smile I told him not to talk rubbish, pulled the log page gave the log to the captain and asked him to leave the aircraft as it was time for it to depart. I have a feeling this will cme back to bite me in a few months but next time i will ask what qualifications he hold's :*

Because he had already the sheet from 737, looks like he was testing you and possibly went happy with your answer. If this is the case, you'll never see him again in your work :ok:
