Wing structure?
hi guys,
Hope this is the right place to ask so here goes. Im currently studying for my ppl and am rather interested on the wing structure. I find it fascinating how large jet wings cope with loads during flight. How are the wing spars connected to the fuselage? Are they a continuous structure or do they bolt/rivet/weld to some central structure? Many thanks Alex |
Alex, they are bolt like rivets which connect the wing to the wing box. Hope this helps.

Yes usually what is considered the wing box often center tankis a structure that the aircraft is built around, sometimes with a keel beam attached to it to distribute the load longitudinally. the wings are often bolted to the wing box among the use of other fastners. The fwd and aft spar of the wings are the heaviest structure in them.
