The Hitcher - Good man ;-)

I say well done to 'The Hitcher' .

He is obviously no more a Security guy than any of us.

What he is pointing out, in his own way, is just how stupid the rules are.

I expect that he is a pilot and is just as pi***d off about the new 'security' as anyone else.

Hats off to you Sir !

Even so, that doesn't account for his input to the "valve cap missing" thread though does it!?

Topspotter 12th Nov 2011 18:45

LMAO, having read the thread just once its obvious to a blind man its a wind up, Im just amazed so many fell for it....I think the post about making bombs from chinese takeaways gave you a big clue TBH

SIA Licence?

Just so you know airport security officers use DfT training and are not required to hold SIA licences at any level.

The darker side to this story

Excellent thread, and what a great windup.
But to get back to the start of this thread, I believe it began with this sudden onset of printer cartridges made into bombs, if I am not mistaken.
As I saw this unfolding in the news, I could not help wonder about the stories of bombs in aircraft coming out so fast after the British and several other European Foreign Ministers stating shortly before a big security conference in Frankfurt, that all this stupidity in security with liquids banned and shoes off and so on had to stop and that we had to get real about things.
Needless to say, nothing came of it as the world once again entered into spasms and cries for more "security"
I am afraid there is a powerful mafia of providers of "security" and we are unable to do anything about it.
I continue to have to smuggle my leatherman in, only to get into my van jampacked full of dangerous pointy and sharp ended thingies, which I am free to use at my own discretion.
And while we´re at it, last time I was working in Tel Aviv airport, the routine was and still is, to drive through the gate and sometimes a student like girlie thing would come out to say hi and wave us through.

The Hitcher 13th Nov 2011 10:00

While its true secruity officers are DFT trained in order the achieve the rank of senior licensed aviation officer a SIA level 3 licence is required along with a endorsment in advanced aviation counter terrorism level 1, which needless to say i hold.
This requirement is a good thing in my view as to TBH the entry standard required to become a officer is not as high as many people think and there are cases of individuals who are without being unkind not the sharpest knives in the drawer managing to slip through the net ,
This requirement prevents this type of officer from climbing the ladder to far as the last thing we need is some useless jobsworth with zero imagination and even less common sense in a postion of authority in aviation security
Finally i can assure everyone the threat of a bomb being manfactured from a chinese /indian takeaway is very real, in fact David Cameron stated at recent COBRA meeting the threat of a so called "biryani bomb" causing havoc at a major airport is his greatest fear.

Avionker 13th Nov 2011 11:39

The "biryani bomb"? Epic.... :D

Is that one of those freudian slip thingies!

I experienced the biryani bomb this morning. It was a dirty bomb with lots of fall out.

The Bombay Bum Burner, beware of it!

"The entry standard required to be an officer is not as high as many people think"

None of us think that.

"Which needless to say I hold"

Of course you do, it was needless for you to mention it.

Biryani Bomb. Top stuff Hitcher, keep it coming:ok:

TURIN 14th Nov 2011 09:22

Not forgetting of course the IED, Improvised Explosive Dhansak!
And the Calamari Claymore-or is that just a damp squid? :\

This really should be in JB by now.

Dry ice bomb - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A dry ice bomb is made from a container such as a plastic bottle, water, and dry ice.

it can be unpredictable and dangerous, and has led to many injuries - and dry ice bombs are illegal in many jurisdictions.

Dry ice and coke would definitely blow me away.

Wonder why Hitcher allows catering to bring in dry ice and coke.
