Long EZ Engine bay

Hi All,

My friend is repairing a long ez. The examiner has pointed out that the inner lining of the upper engine bay cowel needs replacing.

looks like fiberglass (Kind of fire blanket type material)

Questions are,

1) What if it is not fiberglass could it be?

2) Where could we get some and the resin to apply it?

Any thoughts / suggestions on the topic welcome!

I *think* the material is called "Fiberfrax" - it is a fiberglass-looking material with high ceramic content and several experimental class aircraft use it for firewall/fireblocking. You can get whatever you need for this from Aircraft Spruce. There is an EZ builder's group on the net and it is also possible that RAF (Rutan Aircraft Factory) will have an answer. Where are the builder's logs and assembly manuals for this aircraft? You may also find what you need in there. Best Regards, Echo Mike (Strange formatting caused by Firefox)
